As the calendar turns to 2026, resolve to spare yourself from the December "CLE crunch", and start logging hours early.

January 1st doesn't just mark the start of a new year—it marks the beginning of a fresh round of Continuing Legal Education requirements. The 2026 Roadmap For the 2026 compliance year, the Oklahoma Bar Association (OBA) standards remain consistent, but staying ahead of them is the best resolution you can make for your practice:

  • 12 Total Credits: Every active member of the OBA must complete 12 hours of MCLE.
  • 2 Ethics Credits: At least two of those hours must be dedicated to legal ethics.
  • On-Demand Flexibility: Currently, there is no limit on the number of on-demand credits you can use. You can fulfill a big chunk (and growing) of your requirement from your office or home via OkieCLE.com.

Why Start in January?

We’ve all been there—trying to find an ethics course on December 28th while juggling holiday plans and end-of-year filings. By knocking out even just a few hours this month, you give yourself a "buffer" for the rest of the year.

Plus, any surplus credits earned late last year may be eligible for carryover. Under current rules, you can carry over up to 12 credits (including 2 ethics credits) into the 2027 cycle. You can get a head start on getting a head start!
